The Gold Country Museum exhibits focus on Placer County's mining history. it is a museum that is particularly well suited to families. It offers children and adults the opportunity to explore a mining tunnel and pan for gold. The Museum is housed in a historic WPA constructed building in the park-like setting of the Gold Country Fairgrounds, a short walk from the Bernhard Museum. Admission is free, gold panning costs $2.00 per bag of gravel. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, 11:00 - 4:00.
