Getting that beatiful necklace or ring from your mind onto your body takes skill, and a torch. Don't be intimidated by that powerful blue flame!
Silversmith Chris Magisano of Maggie's Meltdown will show you how to master a kitchen torch to solder rings, jump-rings, and layered metals. Kitchen torches can be used to make balled silver head-pins or rivets and small silver dots. You will also have a look at the advantages of using a standing plumber's torch for creating heat-patina's copper and copper head pins or rivets.
In this class you will work on two simple projects, designed to help you feel more comfortable with a torch: a copper soldered stacked band and a simple soldered pendant of sterling silver with copper & sterling components. You will also learn how to make the components.
