Art Center Morro Bay proudly presents Windows to Other Worlds: Cultural Explorations, an exhibit that celebrates worldwide travel, heritage and cultural experiences.
Inspired by a recent trip to Rajasthan, Northern India, award-winning artist Flo Bartell and fellow artists, pay tribute to artwork, customs and the people of various countries around the world.
Flo said about the group’s experiences, “We visited paper mills, fabric making and printing factories. We learned wood block printing on fabric and made our own blocks. We took a workshop in miniature painting and received instruction in hand stitching journals. We watched skilled leather artisans and jewelry makers as they worked.”
Although the inspiration began with a group of artists’ recent trip to India, this exhibit is open to all artists who wish to share and exhibit two and three-dimensional works, that reflect other cultures during their own travels or experiences into other worlds.
Expect to see a variety of subjects, colors and mediums, including fiber, jewelry, painting, photography, sculpture and more!
Windows to Other Worlds: Cultural Explorations will be on display from February 22 through April 2, 2018. Meet the artists at the opening reception Sunday, February 25, 2pm – 4pm. This event is free and open to the public. Art Center Morro Bay is open from 12pm – 4pm daily.
