John Muir’s great-great-grandson, Robert Hanna, takes us on a very personal and up-close look at the many sides of Muir. This exciting evening will take you on a journey of John Muir’s entire life, and will include unique stories and many rare and seldom seen images from the family’s collection, as well as stories which could only be told by Muir’s family.

John Muir, "Father of the National Parks" and founder of The Sierra Club, is considered "one of the patron saints of twentieth-century American environmental activity. . . (Muir) has profoundly shaped the very categories through which Americans understand and envision their relationships with the natural world," writes biographer, Steven J. Holmes.
In his later life, Muir devoted most of his time to the preservation of the Western forests. He petitioned the U.S. Congress for the National Park bill that was passed in 1890, establishing Yosemite National Park, Sequoia National Park and other wilderness areas.

The 211-mile John Muir Trail, a hiking trail in the Sierra Nevada, was named in his honor. Other such places include Muir Woods National Monument, Muir Beach, Mount Muir, and Muir Glacier.
