Explore methods of solid clay construction with ceramicist Michelle Gregor! All skill levels welcome!

Day 1 | June 15 (6-8pm): Exploration in form: fifteen-minute figure studies in clay. These exercises will assist participants to begin to construct the human figure from simple components and to explore various poses. Emphasizing an experimental approach, we will manipulate “first drafts” to discover movement, gesture and vitality. Demonstration: Preparing clay for solid construction.

Day 2 | June 16 (10am-3pm): Artist Slideshow Figurative Sculpture Demo: Improvisation in Clay-Figuration, solid construction methodology and hands on studio work.

Day 3 | June 17 (10am-5pm): Demonstration: hollowing and preparing sculpture for bisque firing. Demonstration with Hands on studio work: Sculpting the Human Head.

This three-day workshop will introduce Michelle’s methods of solid clay construction with an emphasis on improvisation and construction technique. Due to the physical constraints of the material, Students who wish to have their piece bisque fired, should plan to attend an open studio session between the hours of 1-5pm on 6/24/18, to hollow and prepare for the firings.
