Come learn analysis, interpretation, rehearsal, and performance of “I Want” songs found in musical theater such as “The Wizard and I” from Wicked; “Everything’s Coming Up Roses” from Gypsy; “Johanna” from Sweeney Todd; “Journey from the Past” from Anastasia; “Part of Your World” from Little Mermaid; and others. Songs like these can help teach you the importance of playing objectives, wants, and desires. The workshop will include solo work, group work, and dance. You will perform a showcase on Saturday accompanied by a live band.

AGES: High school students in grades 9-12 as of Fall 2018

About the Teaching Artists
ED TRAFTON is a West Coast director, musician, playwright, and teacher who’s had the pleasure of working for several educational, community, and professional theaters such as California Musical Theatre/Music Circus, California Stage, Chautauqua Playhouse, and the Sacramento Theatre Company (STC).

PATTI BAKER is a dance professional who started the first dance program in a Placer County high school in 1987 at Roseville High School. During her years at Roseville High, she directed hundreds of dance shows, choreographed and taught hundreds of dances, and she continues to choreograph, act, and dance in musicals.
