“Beyond the Music” Art Auction: A Night at the Canary Lounge Gala

Rules for Submission:
1) Artists can choose one of the enclosed musical instrument designs included in this document and embellish as they wish, or submit an original work. All mediums are acceptable. All submissions must have a “Musical” theme.

2) Artists must submit their concept no later than Friday, June 29, 2018. Use any of the enclosed provided designs to provide a sketch of what you intend to do, plus a description, or enclose a photo of your already completed original work. Artists can submit up to three entries, but may only be chosen to complete 2 entries for the Gala. There is no fee to enter. Submissions can be emailed to: executivedirector@placerarts.org

3) 30 Commissions will be chosen to be auctioned off at the Gala. Chosen artists who wish to use the enclosed designs will given a blank 1/2” plywood cutout of the design they have requested. In addition, all chosen artists (original or chosen designs) will be given a $35 stipend for supplies and one individual ticket to the Gala ($50 value). Artists will also receive recognition on the event website with a bio, link to their website and a photo of their final submitted work, plus the same information included in the souvenir program that will be given to all attendees. The cutout will be app. 12-18” depending on the design chosen. Artists can also add any support they wish, but the overall project should not exceed 30”.

4) 100% of the proceeds from the auction will be used for the 2019 Community Arts Grants for all of Placer County. Artists understand that they are donating their work to this cause, will receive the $35 stipend and individual ticket, plus a receipt for their donation. Artists will have their work publicized and labeled with their information leading up to the Gala, and be honored at the event.
5) Artists will be informed on Monday, July 2 if they have been chosen, and will be able to pick up their cutout starting Monday, July 9 (if chosen). Finished projects will need to be dropped off July 30 and 31. Instructions to follow.
